They say that this drink has the same amount of caffeine as ½ a cup of espresso – and today it is a great hit in the world, threatening to replace the coffee as one of the most famous drinks!
It looks like coffee, but actually it is a grounded green tea that became very popular these days, especially among the people who promote healthy diet and lifestyle.
The grounded green tea is called Matcha and is made by grinding green tea leafs. It contains a lot of antioxidants and although it became popular recently, the Japanese are drinking this tea since 1191.
A Buddhist monk from Japan conveyed the seeds of Matcha tea in China. This tea spread across all of China. This tea has high nutritional value.
Not only it looks beautiful, the Matcha tea has numerous positive effects for our health. It contains a lot of antioxidants which are good for cancer prevention and speeds up the metabolism thanks to the polyphenols. As mentioned before, this tea is made by grinding the green tea leafs, not from extracts, which means that the positive effects are even stronger. Also, the green tea leafs contain L-theanine, amino acid that relaxes you and creates feeling of alertness.
On the other hand, nutritionist Karen Collins says that its caffeine concentration is a bit worrying – less than coffee, but still more than the green tea. Also, you should keep in mind that the ingredients in Matcha tea are 30 times stronger than in regular green tea, so you shouldn’t drink more than one cup per day.
