Although many hand care products promise great results, these are only temporary and can cost quite a lot. Luckily, this common kitchen ingredient can also do wonders for the skin on your hands, among other health benefits.
HOW TO USE BAKING SODA FOR SMOOTH AND HEALTHY HANDS
If you’re fed up with spending money on chemically-laden soaps and hand creams, that give only short-term effects, maybe it’s time you turned to baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate. Harsh soaps and hand care products are not necessary for beautiful, soft hands. The following recipes will instruct you how to use baking soda to make your hands smooth and healthy.
HAND CLEANSER AND SOFTENER
- Mix one tablespoon baking soda with half tablespoon crushed sugar and a few drops of olive oil. Rub your hands gently with this mixture for 10 minutes. Rinse off with just water. This treatment will make your hands stay soft for 24 hours or more. Repeat the treatment every day.
- Stay away from harsh soaps and gently clean your hands with a paste made of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Rub gently then rinse clean.
- Alternatively, mix baking soda and some gentle liquid hand soap in a ration 3:1 to gently clean and smooth the skin on your hands.
- If you want healthy hands and nails, make a paste with a little water and baking soda. Massage across your hands and nails to remove dead skin cells and dirt and leave them smooth and silky.

Last, but not least, baking soda can be used to remove different odors from your hands. If you’ve been cooking fish or chopping garlic, a paste of baking soda and water instead of regular soap will neutralize the smell on your hands.
