We all battle to lose weight and to maintain our weight once we have lost it. Carrying extra weight is a health risk that gives you low self-esteem, makes you susceptible to disease, and does not necessarily look good.
You may have tried every single diet in the book. Maybe you have already cut out carbs. Perhaps you are following a high protein diet. You may have ditched the take outs, junk food, fizzy drinks, processed foods and sugar. But you are still fat!
It could be that you have a slow metabolism or your excess weight is genetic. You may just need something to get you going but you do not know what it is.
Try these natural remedies and watch the weight fall off you
Green tea and ginger
New research has found that green tea has properties that aid weight loss. Green tea has caffeine in it, catechins and theanine. Caffeine is a stimulant and so it speeds up the metabolic process. Catechins are antioxidants and help lower the absorption of fluids. Theanine releases dopamine which makes you happy and therefore reduces stress eating. Combined these three properties aid in weight loss.
Ginger aids digestion and combined with green tea cleanses your system, boosts your immune system, cleans out your bowels and helps with weight loss.
Make yourself a cup every day
One teaspoon green tea
1/2 inch of ginger, freshly peeled and finely chopped.
Raw organic honey
Place the tea and the ginger in a tea sieve and cover with boiling water. Let is seep like this for about three minutes. Add in a little raw honey to sweeten it.
Drink one to two cups daily, before eating.
Rose petal water
This is a fantastically refreshing drink, especially in the hot summer months. It acts as a very gentle diuretic, flushing out and cleansing your system. Losing water is not losing weight but it does encourage you to drink more and therefore flush more. Rose petal water will make you feel good and therefore not wanting to overeat.
When you make this tea, please ensure the roses have not been sprayed with chemicals. If unsure, use dried rose petals.
- A handful of rose petals
- Filtered or distilled water.
- A pot with a tight light.
Place water in a pot, put the leaves in and very gently simmer for about twenty minutes. The petals will start to lose their color and the water will turn a gentle pink or orange.
Strain and let it cool. Keep refrigerated and drink a glass or two daily.
The mixture will last for up to six days.
Dandelion and peppermint tea
This is the most delicious tea that will cleanse, detoxify and speed up your metabolic process. Your liver manages the fats in your body and their absorption, and dandelion and peppermint both help your liver. They also both have anti-inflammatory properties, boost the immune system and contain antioxidants. Mix the two together and make a tea, you will feel good and get skinny.
- One teaspoon dried peppermint leaves
- One teaspoon dried dandelion leaves
- Boiling water
- Boil water and add the dandelion and peppermint in.
- Leave to seep for ten minutes.
- Strain and drink.
- Add lemon for taste.
Note you can make this tea with fresh herbs which of course would be ideal as long as they have not been sprayed by chemicals.
Losing weight naturally
We honestly believe that you can lose weight without taking any diet pills. Diet pills are generally filled with mostly caffeine, which is a stimulant. Apart from having too much caffeine which will leave you jittery and unable to sleep, diet pills often have chemicals in them. Many diet pills are bought online and to be honest, you have no idea what is inside of them.
Try and eat well. Cut out carbs, sugars and processed foods. Eat raw and organic foods, and as much fruit and vegetables as you can. Juice, and make vegetable juices. Green leafy vegetables are excellent. Make a green smoothie. Eat plenty of fiber, nuts and grains, as fiber will get your bowels moving regularly.
Drink lots of water. Apart from the above recipes you can really add any kind of herb to hot water to cleanse, aid digestion and speed up your metabolism. Try mint, sage or rosemary, they are all good for you. Ginger, as above, should become a part of your regular diet. And don’t forget the very tried and tested lemon water, hot or cold. If you make lemon water or lemon tea, use the whole lemon and grate some of the lemon rind into your drink.
Our final note to you – always exercise. You will not lose weight by exercising alone, you need to drink well and eat well too. But exercise will incentivize you, as well as make you feel good.
