Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger juice

Preparation:

Shred the ginger finely, and squeeze out the juice using your fingers. Put it in a cup, and pour over some boiled and hot water. If you do not like your tea that strong, add a little more water or sweeten it with some honey.

2. Ginger and coriander tea

By adding the power of coriander you get a super-delicious and winning combination. Use it to treat flu. We have already discussed over its benefits, but it is always good to remind you of it, because it sure deserves such attention.

According to the rich Ayurvedic tradition of making tea, despite of being aromatic and tasty, the combination of ginger and coriander is considered as one of the best remedies when it comes to treating colds. It soothes the throat, reduces inflammation, and relieves muscle pain, which is a common flu symptom.

Although coriander has the ability to cool the organism, when combined with the power of ginger, it provides a balanced warmth. In this way, by combining two spices with opposite effect, you get a powerful combination that is beneficial in the treatment of these conditions.

Ingredients: (for 2 cups)

  • 1/2 cups coriander seeds
  • 3 ginger slices
  • 2 cups water

Preparation:

Wash the seeds and peel the ginger. You can either slice it or chop it finely for a stronger effect. Pour over the water and cook until the liquid reduces by a third. Strain and serve. Always drink it hot, taking small sips.

3. Ginger paste for headache

Severe headache is one of the common symptoms of cold and flu. Before you reach for some medication, you may want to use ginger instead.

To make the soothing paste you need ginger powder. Add some warm water. Use just enough to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your forehead and temples. Lie on your bed and relax. Breathe slowly. You should soon feel some relief.

4. Use homemade oil to relieve muscle pain

If you struggle with flu, it is like every inch of your body aches. But, it does not come all at once. First, it appears in one part of the body. Make a nice cup of tea, and start using natural remedies. Apply some of the oil, and gently massage the sore spots.

Ingredients:

  • Sesame / almond oil
  • fresh ginger juice

Preparation:

Mix equal parts of the base oil and fresh ginger juice. Stir well and massage the sore spot.

5. Ginger elixir to strengthen your immunity

This is one of the most popular Ayurvedic recipe. It is easy to make and you can use it for longer. Store it in a container and always have it on hand.

It only takes 5-10 minutes to make the elixir, and the list of its benefits is never-ending. Determine the amount of ingredients according to your needs. You can make either a tablespoon or a liter, and keep it in a jar. Make sure you use it within 1-2 months.

Ingredients: (Depending on the amount you need)

  • 1 or more whole lemons
  • wildflower honey
  • ginger juice

Preparation:

Honey is the base of this elixir, so it takes the largest part in this combination. Add fresh lemon and ginger juice. You should get a syrup-like consistency. If you decide to make more of it, you can also add lemon slices or chunks.

Be careful, if you are using store bought lemons, make sure you peel them, and if you are using organic lemons from a local farmer, you can use the peel as well. Make the elixir and enjoy its scent, taste and effect. Take a teaspoon during the whole day. You have probably hear about a similar elixir, but without any lemon juice added.

– If you struggle with stomach problems, heartburn and other symptoms of increased Pitta, make sure you consult your doctor before you use ginger;
