4 Life-Threatening Ingredients in Yogurt Which are not Written on the Declaration

Yogurt is a favorite snack of millions of people, refreshing and packed with useful bacteria and vitamins. However, do we know what ingredients this product contains?

Recently a new report appeared from the Cornucopia Institute which criticizes the modern food industry. They argue that you can easily buy yogurt with too many suspicious additives!

The shocking discovery of the Institute especially emphasizes the usage of the harmful ingredients which are not written on the package label.

Institute conveyed research for 2 years on leading yogurt brands and the results were shocking. Their findings show that yogurt contains some worrisome ingredients that are not mentioned on the declaration.

Shocked from its new discovery, the Institute filed a formal complaint to the Office of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States, with a request to examine the activity of some producers of yogurt because they are suspicious about the yoghurt’s quality.

These are four dangerous ingredients in yogurt:

  1. Carrageenan

This polysaccharide is obtained from red algae. For four decades, scientists have warned that the use of carrageenan is not safe for consumption.

Studies show that again this polysaccharide is associated with the occurrence of gastrointestinal inflammation and an increased rate of inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers and even cancers. However, producers do not pay attention to the warnings and continue to use this ingredient in yogurt.

  1. Dimethylpolysiloxane

-It is used in the restaurants as a tool against the formation of foam in deep-fat fryer. It is also used in the production of yogurt.

However, it is not mentioned on the label, even if its sediment remains in the yogurt. The World Health Organization declared this substance as safe and FDA allows to be kept with the help of formaldehyde, a well-known gaseous compound that causes oxidative stress and increases the risk of immune disorders and cancer.

  1. HFCS-90

-This toxic additive is a variation of the corn syrup (HFCS), which contains much higher levels of HFC. According to the long-term study from Princeton University, the effect of consumption of HFCS is much more dangerous than the use of other simple sugars such as sucrose.

The study found that HFCS-90 not only contributes to the accumulation of fat, but also significantly increases the weight, increases the blood pressure, can be the cause of coronary arteries disease, the occurrence of diabetes and cancer.

Producers of yogurt, mark HFCS-90 as “fructose” or “fructose syrup”, terms that can be associated with natural fruit sugars. However, there is a big difference between them!

  1. Modified sugars

-This form of sugar cannot be absorbed in the digestive tract.

Any processed Sugarcane or sugar beet is usually genetically modified. It is processed with hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and treatment with active carbon.

The report from the Cornucopia Institute also reveals that many other harmful ingredients are added to the yogurt:

Sweeteners:

Sugar- processed sugars such as fructose corn syrup, fructose, dextrose and many other artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, potassium and sucralose.

Thickeners:

Carrageenan, xanthan gum, modified corn starch, starch, pectin and gelatin.

Colors:

Artificial colors, colors of fruits and vegetables

Highly processed, synthetic nutrients

Vitamins and minerals

Modified sugar and insulin

Nanoparticles:

Titanium dioxide

Aroma:

Artificial fruit flavors, natural flavors, citric acid

Pectin and other natural flavors may sound like a good solution, but not always. Pectin is found in lemon peel, and when you process it, it becomes harmful. In processing synthetic solvents such as ethanol, isopropanol or hexane (neurotoxin which is hazardous air pollutant) are used.

So, we cannot always trust what we think is beneficial. The important thing is to become aware about the facts.

The real yogurt is a healthy food

Yogurt is not a real healthy food when produced from cow’s milk obtained from cows fed indoors and with genetically modified food mixed with a multitude of ingredients that are harmful to health.

When buying yogurt, make sure it has organic origin.
